Blaschka glass sculptures of marine invertebrates and botanical specimens once seen primarily as educational models for Zoology and Biology departments are now internationally recognised as exceptional works of artistic and scientific modelling.
The Natural History Museum's collection of Blaschka has recently been brought out of storage for an extensive programme of conservation.
This is the first time it has been exhibited outside London since its restoration and it will be displayed along with the ongoing collection of Blaschka sea anemones from Tyne and Wear Museums.
Also featuring original illustrations by Alder and Hancock courtesy of the Natural History Society of Northumbria.
