Sunderland Libraries across the City

wheelchair accessibile Wheelchair Accessible

This year the Summer Reading Challenge will be going intergalactic as young readers discover the joy of reading books and develop a keen interest in the science of space travel.

Libraries are also teaming up with new CBBC programme 'Space Hoppers' and the BBC's Year of Science.

Children will join Jessie, Finn, Safiya and Nabil as they attempt to deliver a consignment of books to the moon and set up the first Lunar Library. As children progress through the challenge they will collect reading rewards and a medal will be presented to everyone who complete the mission.

Children can join the Space Hop at any Sunderland Library and participation is FREE.

A variety of fun space themed activities for all the family will also take place at Sunderland Libraries including:-

  • Space themed family craft making activities
  • Space Hop Magic Show
  • Space storytelling and puppet making
  • Animals in Space - learn how animals have been at the forefront of space travel

All activities are FREE, contact your nearest library for details.
