Get your running shoes on and take part in the first Bupa Great North 10k, Sunderlandon 12 July. The mass-participation run is open to men and women over 15 years, with the 10k course taking in Sunderland?s city centre, riverside, green parks and beautiful coastline.
Sunderland City Council is workingwith sports marketing agency Nova International to bring The Bupa Great North 10k to Sunderland. The racewill be made up of all the same elements as other Great Run events, with a selection of the world?s best elite runners heading up the front of the field and thousands anticipated to follow in the mass field - running for fun, to challenge themselves or to raise money for charity.
On the same day in July Sunderland will also host the Bupa Junior Great Sunderland Run, which is open to young people aged 8-14 years and a great chance for young people to have fun and enjoy being physically active.
