Sunderland International Airshow FREE Opening Celebrations with ABC

Come along and join in the celebrations to mark the 21st Sunderland International Airshow.

The weekend of thrilling entertainment in the air and on the ground will begin with a bang on Friday night from 7.00pm on Cliffe Park, near the white lighthouse.

BBC Newcastle's Jonathan Miles will compere thefamily friendly event that kicks off withperformances by the amazing Cirque Bijou who recently supported Take That on their masive UK tour, which included the Stadium of Light. There will be live music from local bands Seven Heroes and Monty Casino before headline act ABC take to the stage! The 80s new wave band topped the charts with singles including ?Poison Arrow? and ?The Look of Love?.

After the live acts on the ground all eyes will look to the skies as the mighty Dutch F-16 roars in to thrill the crowds.The jet fighter craftwill fly past and as it's afterburners disappear into the dusk a spectacular fireworks display will light up the skies over the sea.

The event will close at 10pm and the 21st Sunderland International Airshow will open 12 hours later on Saturday morning at 10am...
